And I wanna see Munich

The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe was really good as well.

I tend to do the movie thing in spurts, I'll see three or 4 in a month, then go a month or two without seeing any or just watching them at home.

I'm not afraid to hit the so called "chick flicks" every once in a while either, but I tend to go for comedies first.

Gay or straight, Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or Bull Moose Party doesn?t mean shit when it comes to character. My issue is with the many people who think I am a Neanderthal because I don?t want to see this movie. I don?t want to see most movies, but because I don?t want to see a gay cowboy movie that?s main theme is adultery (for any reason) the ?progressive? people in our country think I am some kind of stupid and homophobe.

I drove past the Esquire around 7pm Saturday evening and there was a rather long line at the ticket window. I expected to see a bunch of guys standing there, but instead it was a bunch of 50 and 60-something couples.

I don't know for a fact that those people were buying tickets for BBM, but lines such at aren't typical at the Esquire.

I just read that BBM cost under $20mm to make.

According to today's Wall Street Journal, the movie was #9 in weekend revenues and cumulative revenues of $22.46mm.

Point is, it wasn't an expensive movie to make, so it doesn't need as much revenue to break even.

As of last week, BBM had been released in fewer than 300 theaters. So to reach the top ten with limited distribution, that's not too shabby.

I'm guessing that a LOT of people who went to the theater will also buy the DVD when it is released - and also some who don't go to the theater.

I have an acquaintance who intended to see it Friday night, but it was sold out. He got in to the Saturday evening show, and that was sold-out too.

A lot of people were probably not able to get to see the movie last weekend.

Some people will see it multiple times.

It might not make a record amount of money, but it will make a tidy profit, and it will win awards.

*If* it wins an Oscar, the movie will gain a second life.

I expect the ROI on this flick to be very good.

A very good ROI is the ROI for The Passion of Christ. This movie won't come close because it does not play to the mainstream moviegoers nor does it have legions of thumpers making everyone in the congregation see it.

I work for a small company and of the 15 people not one is planning on seeing it. Yes I will grant you that in Urban areas and on a limited showing it will fill theaters and have sold out shows, but come on do you really expect this movie to be seen in places like Lubbock Texas, Midwest City Oklahoma or Bell Glade Florida? And no I don?t think there will be a lot of people seeing it multiple times and it won't be a big impulse buy in the DVD section at Wall Mart.

The Passion of the Christ earned worldwide revenues of $611mm on production and marketing costs of $55mm. Yes, I would say that's good ROI.

Brokeback probably won't fare as well, particularly when freaky right wing nuts are shutting it down in places like Utah and Washington. Hence the comments about homophobia and stupidity, probably because much of those perceptions are based in firm reality. I'm guessing no left wingers shut down The Passion of the Christ...

But as we know, all right wingers are pure and loving, wanting everyone to live their own lives (snicker).

But I digress...

After a few short weeks in limited release, domestic revenues for BBM have exceeded production costs.

But at least we've changed you from talking about not making money to comparative NOI, and this, folks, is progress.
